Journal «IBEROAMERICA». Chief editor
Borovkov Anatoly Nikitovich, Doctor of Political Sciences, since 1998 chief editor of the journal “Iberoamerica”.
He was born in 1942. In 1967 graduated from the Faculty of Translations of the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages Maurice Thorez. From 1967 to 1969 worked as translator for the group of soviet military specialists in Cuba.
Since 1969 has been working at the Institute of Latin America Studies of de Russian Academy of Sciences (ILA RAS). In 1975 defended his thesis of Ph.D. He has been a researcher, head of sector. From 1984 to 1994, he was the representative of the ILA RAS and regional correspondent of the journal “Latin America” in Mexico and Central America. Since 1995 he led the Scientific Publishing Center of the ILA RAS. From 1995 to 1998 headed the publishing group of the almanac “America Latina”, which came out in Spanish twice a year as a publishing project of the ILA RAS. In 1998 was appointed as chief editor of the quarterly journal “IBEROAMERICA” in Spanish, established on the basis of the previous almanac.
In the year 2000 he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor in Political Sciences. The author of many (over more a hundred) scientific publications (articles, brochures, chapters in monographs) on economic, political and social problems of Bolivia, Mexico and countries of Central America, including the book “Mexico on the “turning point’ of its economic and political development”.
During its existence, the journal “IBEROAMERICA” has been widely recognized by the international scientific centers and such international organizations as UN Economic Commission for Latin America, the Inter-American Development Bank and others, where it was sent as part of the exchange of periodical publications. These organizations, as well as the ambassadors of Latin-Americans countries emphasize the interest in the work of the Russian specialists in Latin America. The journal is of great importance for foreign graduate students, giving them the opportunity to publish in Spanish.
In September 2013 Anatoly Borovkov was approved by decision of the Academic Council of the ILA RAS as the chief editor of the journal “IBEROAMERICA” for the next five years.
